Lost property

If you lose something at the station or on one of our trains, just call our Lost Property helpline on 
0345 7000 125 (Open 7am to 10pm, seven days a week) and we’ll do our best to help. 

  • Items are kept securely at Bristol Temple Meads station for 12 weeks - although food, drink and perishable goods are disposed of immediately. 
    Please allow up to five working days for property to be received and logged.
  • Any cash is banked and a receipt issued. You can take this into any of our ticket offices to reclaim your monies.
  • A storage charge of £2 is payable - although items such as prescription medication and children’s toys are exempt.
You are also responsible for any extra costs incurred (e.g postal or courier charges) in returning your property.

Monday to Friday 0800 - 1900
Saturdays 0900 - 1700
Sundays and Bank Holidays 1000 - 1630

Returning by post/courier

Small items
Can be sent by Royal Mail. Just send a suitable, stamped addressed envelope (or a prepaid Special Delivery envelope).

Larger items
Can be returned by courier (we recommend www.myhermes.co.uk and www.collectplus.co.uk - where you can buy an address label online and email it to us).

You’ll need to complete our lost property disclaimer form and send it - along with a cheque/postal order for £2 to cover storage charges (payable to First Great Western) - to:

Please note we can’t return items by train.
Items lost on the train
Items left on a train are usually found at the final destination station:

  • For stations managed by First Great Western, contact our Lost Property helpline on 0345 7000 125. See more about items lost at a First Great Western station.
  • For other stations, you will need to contact the relevant train company.
