First Great Western and the Department for Transport have announced further changes to train services in the West of England, as part of discussions to finalise this December’s train timetable.
Following First Great Western's extensive consultation with customers and stakeholders earlier this year, extra services will be added to the proposed timetable for Ivybridge and the Gunnislake branch. The changes will provide an additional early morning service from Calstock into Plymouth, and four additional services in each direction at Ivybridge, including services timed to service school and college students in the town. First Great Western's Managing Director, Alison Forster said: "We have been pleased to agree these extra services with the Department for Transport and know they will be welcomed by our customers in the region. We will be incorporating these into the final timetable which we hope to publish next month." As a result of First Great Western's consultation process, a number of changes have been made to the draft timetable to improve services in the West of England. These include the reinstatement of semi-fast services between Exeter and London Paddington, the creation of direct London Paddington services to and from Dawlish Warren and Starcross and further Saltash and St Germans services. Final timings for the extra services will be agreed with Network Rail shortly and First Great Western expects to publish the final version on its website late next month. It will also be writing to thousands of individuals and organisations who responded to its consultation.
