Santa rests reindeer and takes the train to Gunnislake

Monday 5 November

Children in Plymouth have had the opportunity to tell Santa what is on their Christmas wish list as he visited the area on-board the First Great Western (FGW) Santa Special.

Santa and his helpers used two specially decorated coaches attached to the normal train service running from Plymouth through the scenic Tamar Valley to Gunnislake.

First Great Western Regional Manager, West of England, Julian Crow said:

“First Great Western is committed to supporting the communities we serve and when Santa came to us looking to rest his reindeer before the big day, we were only too happy to offer a speedy and equally economic alternative.

“Our helpful and friendly staff assisted the elves, allowing more children to meet Father Christmas before he heads back to his workshop at the North Pole.”

The trains ran from Plymouth to Gunnislake return at 15:40 and 17:45 on Sunday 9 December and are to run again on Sunday 16 December, raising over £1,500 for local charities.

Tickets have sold out, with all proceeds going to the Children’s Hospice South West and Dame Hannah Rogers. They cost £6.00 for an Adult and £3.00 per child or £15.00 for a family of four.
