Reading station rocks
Wednesday 20 February
First Great Western has teamed up with Reading Rock Academy to add a little musical cheer to the commuting experience.
Listen out as you board a crazy little train of love as Reading station rocks to the sounds of the Academy’s young and bright stars on Friday 22 February.
Before you go station to station, check out one of two forty minute acoustic sets at 11.30 and 12.30, from six of the Academy’s top bands. The bands will be performing on the station concourse.
Taking a quick break from keeping the wagon wheels rolling, Reading Station Manager Maggie Rolfe said:
“First Great Western is committed to supporting the communities we serve, and what better way to do that than by allowing our up and coming musicians to have a stage to play and the chance to brighten passenger’s journeys.”
Reading Rock Academy is a Social Enterprise (not-for-profit organisation), based in Reading, on Reading University’s Bulmershe Campus. It was founded in 2009 by Pete Doyle, a local guitar teacher from Reading.
The organisation exists solely to help nurture and develop new artists and bands in the Reading and surround area. They offer both educational and fun experiences for young musicians such as clubs, instrumental lessons, band experiences and live performances.
The organisation is soon to become a charity.
